This Lao restaurant is well known amongst Leo people, for such delicacies as stuffed frogs legs (sounds weird but would appeal to the western appetite), deep fried quail. If that sounds too weird, try the special fish soup, pounded-beef, and pickled veggies (and maybe try to get out a bit more).

Invite all your friends along because it’s the kind of place you order a few dishes and try a bit of everything. All the traditional larp and tamakhung (papaya salad) is excellent. The menu is unfortunately very unappealing. Best not to look at the pictures and just order the above mentioned specialties - just take my word for it - it’s a risk worth taking.

The actual restaurant looks very ordinary; clean and tiled, with half of it oddly sectioned off with air-conditioning. There isn’t much in the way of drinks or dessert - it is unadulterated Lao food, without having to compromise by trying to appeal to the western clientele. While it’s too pricey for the average Lao (why pay for food you can cook at home?), it is must for any falang serious about trying Lao food.

Other Notes: Nang = Miss. And Kham Bang is her name, pronounced more like Come Bung

Veggie Options: as with any lao food, very limited, sorry! You'll have to order a plate of fried veggies and rice. The pickled veggies are good too.

Where to Find: It's in the lonely planet. If you go along the Mekong Rd Fa Ngum, towards the airport, pass Bo Pen Nyang, turn right at the road with the big Pepsi billboard. It's one road before the turn off before the dirt road at the MRC / down to sunset bar. Then go up this road away from the Mekong and it is on your right a block up at the bend in the road where there is a Beer Lao sign and the name of the restaurant. It's not a fancy looking restaurant, and quite narrow like a town house. Opposite a big white block of flats.
